A Creative Being

A blueprint for the true self I am creating

August 2025

I am a creative being. I am continuously creating who I am over time.

Meaning of life

The meaning of life is a profoundly personal and philosophical question, without a single, universally accepted answer. Each individual has the autonomy to define the meaning of their own existence. A clearly defined purpose can alleviate confusion when making decisions and foster a greater sense of fulfillment in daily life. Therefore, I will now articulate the meaning I ascribe to my own life.

My life's singular purpose is to create my true self, and all my experiences contribute to this objective.

Just as a novel's plot serves primarily to reveal the protagonist's true identity, it strips away their preconceived notions, societal masks, and comfortable habits. This forces them to make choices that expose their authentic nature, values, and deepest desires.

About creation

I chose "create" over "define" in "create my true self" because navigating life is a creative process. It is only in moments of truth, when faced with difficult decisions, that I truly understand myself.

Much like a quantum in superposition, my true self isn't a fixed, pre-defined state to be discovered. Instead, it is actively created in each moment of truth. An aspect of my being may not have existed until I brought it into existence.

Removal of expectations

This definition of life allowed me to eliminate expectations. Now, when I act, that aspect of myself is brought forth, the objective is achieved, and the reward is gained.

Notably, the objective is not to create a "good" self by any conventional standard, but to create the true self. Therefore, it is creation that matters, not the result. The only purpose that the result could serve is a new opportunity for further creation.

For example, if I put a lot of effort into preparing for the GRE test, but got a low score the first time taking it. It was the hard work that created a part of me. The low score is not a creation but an evaluation; therefore, it does not affect the meaningfulness of my life. In addition, the low score creates a new opportunity to create the part of me that faces setbacks after working hard at something. My reaction to the setback creates who I really am.

No good or bad

It is also important to know that there is no inherent good or bad about anything. The good and bad are ideas imposed by people. There can only be things that contribute to or hinder a goal. Therefore, I will not judge the self I created to be good or bad.

For example, if I get a low score, no matter if it evokes feelings of upset, anger, or motivation, it creates the real me. I would just let it flow freely without judgment.

The true self

There is no good or bad in the self I have created; there is only its fidelity to my true self. The question is whether I am creating the self I truly want to be. The self I truly want to be is my true self. Therefore, the constant objective is to know who I really am and create that true self.

Then, comes the question of how to know who I truly want to be. That answer has to come from the soul, not the mind or body. The soul is the consciousness with free will. The mind is a computer for logic. The body is a tool to interact with the physical world.

Know the true self

The mind should never dictate to the soul about who I really am. Otherwise, the mind is blocking me from creating the true self. I need to use my mind to observe and understand what my soul truly wants. Then, use the body to create it.

How to create the true self

When I know the true self, how do I create it?

Self-creation is a pure internal process with no external obstacles. The external environment is only a source of questions to answer, not a source of obstacles. When it puts me into a situation for self-creation, I only need to remember who I am and take action accordingly.

Every complex project requires meticulous planning, including creating the true self. This article serves as a blueprint for this life-long self-creation project.

I will write down everything I discovered about myself here in this article andread it regularly as a reminder.
